Simple Thoughts and Tips on Values of Perfection in Humanity

Simple Thoughts and Tips on Values of Perfection in Humanity

There’s a saying that has been super popular over the years. It is “nobody’s perfect”. Unfortunately, unrealistic expectations still becomes a serious issue in humanity that causes mental breakdown and even prolonged mental illness, after this much familiarity we have towards that meaningful motivational sentence.

This current situation keeps calling out my head and my heart to make some simple thoughts to help you go through. So, here I am now, creating a space for all of you to Meet some different views of perfection outlooks and values. As a brief introduction, let me say that perfection’s meanings and outlooks are always depending on the way you believe or disbelieve.

Sample of Perfection Outlooks

Imagine, seeing perfection from the eyes of a believer who’s extremely optimistic for other’s future, but becomes against all positive thoughts when it’s about yours.

Your glasses are your bitterness or failures to success that leave some trauma. Then, perfection might look like the top of mountain to your life. Seems unreachable, looks too far away, sounds unfriendly to weak ones like you; you’d call yourself weak with those eyes and glasses.

While understanding what’s inside these bunch of words, try to see from the eyes of a dreamer; someone likes competition because of more than one or two winnings. Always dream of ambition and those dreams are constantly manifested. That ambitious one wears unstoppable glasses. Tiredness can be pushed away so easily, because you’re always perfect and getting addicted to look perfect all the time. With those eyes and glasses, perfection looks like a playground to you.

If you’re not satisfied, or still wanting to know another face of perfection, then try to see from the eyes of non-believer; never thinks about who’s the better or worse, because that’s no fun at all. Your glasses are basic social interaction with friends and family. You only know simplicity. Perfection would appear as dust. It would show up as nothingness to you.

I never tried to think of perfection’s appearance. It had been too confusing so I decided to forget and let it pass by. But, one time a friend of mind discussed about it through a language learning app, started it off with three questions. Here they are!

  • Does it matter to be perfect?
  • Why do people try so hard to be perfect?
  • Where is the perfection coming from?

Different eyes, different glasses, different answers. Before moving forward to my answers that day, I’ll briefly describe my eyes and glasses. But, one thing to remember.

If you don’t match yourself to those eyes and glasses I have explained, do not overthink. It’s always fine to find your own way of seeing or understanding things deeply. Nothing’s supposed to guide people to be someone.

Simple Thoughts on Perfection

My pair of eyes is from a believer point of view. It doesn’t believe perfection. It only believes that everyone can be perfect with some consideration.

My eyes are something you name as neutral POV. Took me so long to look down after all the ambition and selfishness I had before. Also, my glasses are both failures and some achievements.

With these eyes, I am now serious and chill at the same time. Serious to be responsible and make my best. Also, chill to share my stories without thinking people steal anything from me.

Back to my friend’s questions. Here are my answers to them!

  • It doesn’t matter to be perfect

Most of the time, being perfect without a good self-knowingness leads you to be someone else. You’d end up following perfectionable standards by copying, then. The worst thing is, perfection lies nowhere in you.

I say making the best of what you have is the matter. By making the best, you firstly make a strong sign of a readiness to be actively responsible. That way, you increase your value and worth so perfection comes along.

  • People want to fulfil the standards they know

This one is an answer to my friend’s second question. I’ve been in that place before, and I know how draining it can be. Besides, I’ve heard some other stories of life brought the same message to my notes.

People are burdened with standards. Some can adapt, some others can’t but they keep pushing. Don’t care if it’s right or wrong, but they keep pushing.

People strive for perfection based on world’s standards. People try to be perfect because of following some standards they know. Could be from their family, friends, or some other environments they’re in.

Following (in general) is not always wrong, but following without being selective always is. Unfortunately, that’s what most people do. Following without selecting what’s good and what’s bad for themselves. They just see how many people trying the same as theirs, then go.

  • Perfection comes from standards

I remember the time when I was in that group discussion. I and my friend had four random people joining, so we were six that day. Those four people were answering before me, so I had the chance to hear all of their ideas. Surprisingly, they all were blaming social Media.

I give the freedom to you, my readers, to agree or disagree. To me, social Media is not a primary trigger. To my eyes and glasses, it sounds unfair to blame on social media. Remember, the human’s power is the most influential over anything.

Indeed, social media make us feel so anxious for not having what others have. But with or without social media, you’d still have that feeling when the same story goes on in anywhere on your reach. When you’re next-door seems to have more success in their career, for example. You don’t see the success from those platforms, but you hear of it through people’s conversation, see it real in front of your face.

How would it make impact on you? It’d still make you insecure, right? And when people in your environment ever find out that success, they could make it as perfectionable internal standard without social media, right? So, where’s the impact caused by technology?

I don’t know if I added this to my answer that day. However, perfectionable standards can be defined as a little thing coming from comparison or how we commonly describe different qualities. You know the word “good”, “better” and “best?” Or “bad”, “worse” and “worst?”

Yes, perfection comes from perfectionable standards and the standards mainly comes from comparison. Comparison comes from anywhere. With or without social media, people are still able to compare anything.

Tips on Valuing Perfection in Humanity

With or without social platforms, perfectionable standard always comes as people start making comparison. As we know, standard is always dynamic, sometimes isn’t worth to get into. All we can do is not easily comparing ourselves to others, while practicing perfection based on attitude, manner and behavior. Then, we head on the last point I really want to share; the values to reach perfection in humanity.

  • Doo your bests at anything you can make

It may sound so cliché. Doing your best means optimizing your focus at reaching goals, developing potential effectively, and makeing the present moment to be truly yours. Pay aattention on your process and don’t question about other’s journey. Sincerely work on yourself.

  • Wisely choose what to fulfil

As I said above, perfection always has its dynamic standard. So, only you can wisely choose what to follow or ignore. And once you make a decision, be aware of the reason why you take your step. An action with no reason will never lead you to any purpose in life.

  • Have courage to own a different standard for yourself

Everyone has their own way to motivate themselves, and it’s not always the same as others. Owning different standard can be done by making list of things you want to achieve, or creating deadlines for things you need to accomplish. Besides helping yourself to be motivated, it is also good for staving off procrastination and laziness.

  • Actively, creatively, and consistently open your mind

You start to close your mind when completely ignoring good ones. Focusing on yourself doesn’t mean you’re allowed to cover your ears from constructive criticism. Keep embraceing your unknowingness to get some improvement. Ask for second opinion to those who have more experience, and do stay humble.

  • Have self-control and never copy someone else.

Don’t get bored of observing and even reobserving yourself; your strength, weakness, talent, and uniqueness. Write some journal about it if necessary. Control your mind if it ever produces any idea of copying others style. Be authentic, be original!

  1. Thanks for this wonderful text! In fact, embracing your differences and acknowledging your weaknesses can only help you get better. And perfection will still be out of reach to us because it's not in humans nature. There are things we'll never be able to change and that's what makes us unique. Your text is very inspiring as it can lead us to accept ourselves the way we are and also to not blindly follow everything but stay authentic.
